This charitably funded project—a respite home for mentally and physically disabled children—involved multiple stakeholders: the HSE, Rehabcare, the Maria Goretti Foundation (set up by the Hanlon family to run the home), and the local community. Intense research and consultation was required to ensure that every detail of the building was appropriate to the special needs of the occupants making the building more complex than projects of much greater scale. The quality of the design and construction of the building was recognised when it won the Overall Excellence in Construction and Health Project of the Year awards in the 2015 Irish Construction Industry Awards.
