Our ambition for the iHub Facility at GMIT is to design a building which is distinctive and representative of the innovative practices taking place within its walls. Located on a prominent site at the edge of campus, our design proposes a strong gateway building to address this boundary. We have taken the pedestrian entrance through the building to enhance your experience on arrival. The form of the building relates to its surrounding context with the bulk of the building broken down by twisting the mass to compliment and reference its surroundings. We have pushed and pulled the rooms to create solar shading and reduce the cooling loads needed in summer on the main, south-facing facade.
