This full restoration and 4-classroom extension to Dún Dealgan National School required a considered design which was sympathetic to its surroundings. The school is located in the busy town centre of Dundalk and is neighbour to 4 listed buildings. The new extension sits to the rear of the site and takes colour inspiration from those listed buildings which surround it. Internally, we created a tense foyer where old and new meet, leading off to a multi-purpose hall within the original school house. A restoration of its double sliding doors allows division of this space when needed.
