St. Oliver's Post Primary
This project was an extension to the existing St. Oliver's school to provide them with a new Special Needs Unit. The basis of the design was informed by the buildings already existing, as the school already had four new classrooms being built at the time our design was beginning. The concept uses muted colours and natural light as a means to enliven the internal spaces. Coloured fencing ensures a safe and lively enclosure of the external play spaces. The SNU is accessed via a new timber clad box with a protruding zinc overhang. This timber then works its way inside to clad the school office in a what that softens the transition from outside to the building within.
